On the occasion of the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), the largest-ever Slovenian economic and trade delegation to China, led by Matej Lotrič, President of tThe National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, attended and participated in a series of CIIE events.

On the morning of November 5th, The CIIE Partnership · 2025 China-Slovenia Matchmaking Conference was successfully held in Hongqiao, Shanghai. The conference was sponsored by the China-Europe Association for Technical and Economic Cooperation Foreign Investment and Foreign Trade Working Committee and the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia and co-hosted by the Consulate of the Republic of Slovenia in Shanghai, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, the Slovenian-Chinese Business Council, and Nao Technology Co., Ltd. A total of 60 Slovenian enterprises and institutions as well as 55 Chinese-funded enterprises attended the conference.

At the beginning of the conference, Mr. Wei Long, Vice Chairman of the China-Europe Association for Technical and Economic Cooperation Foreign Investment、President of the Foreign Trade Working Committee delivered a speech on behalf of the Chinese host. He elaborated on the important opportunities that China’s hosting of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) brings to Slovenian enterprises, as well as China’s ongoing efforts to improve policies and strengthen the rule of law to safeguard the investment and trade rights and interests of foreign-funded enterprises.Director Wei Long pointed out that China and Slovenia have prominent industrial complementarity. The combination of China’s vast market scale and Slovenia’s technological innovation capabilities in advantageous fields will surely inject strong impetus into the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries and cooperation in emerging areas between the two countries. He emphasized to the Chinese enterprises present that Slovenia, with its unique geographical advantages in Europe, is a preferred destination for Chinese-funded enterprises to "go global" into Europe and expand into the European market. Finally, Director Wei Long provided specific explanations on the plan for future cooperation between the two sides.

As the only representative of a local Chinese government at this forum, Mr.Wang Jianmin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Huzhou Commitee (CCPIT Huzhou), delivered a speech. He comprehensively promoted Huzhou's urban advantages and industrial characteristics, focused on the fields of China-Sri Lanka local cooperation, and emphasized that Huzhou has a solid industrial foundation and distinctive development advantages in sectors such as building technology and logistics supply chains. He expressed Huzhou's willingness to give full play to the role of the CCPIT as a bridge and link, build a regional cooperation platform for enterprises of China and Sri Lanka, and help cooperation projects be implemented efficiently and advanced practically.

At this forum, the CCPIT Huzhou carefully organized 25 outstanding enterprises from Zhejiang Province and local Huzhou to participate. This effectively enhanced the Yangtze River Delta region’s participation and right to speak in the China-Sri Lanka economic and trade docking activities of this CIIE, and more importantly, built a high-quality channel for Huzhou enterprises to "go global" to conduct face-to-face precise docking and efficient negotiations.Participating in this forum is a concrete measure taken by Huzhou to actively respond to and deeply integrate into the China International Import Expo (CIIE) platform, and to proactively implement the central government’s work arrangements regarding stabilizing foreign investment and foreign trade, as well as expanding high-level opening-up. It is of great significance for Huzhou to broaden areas of foreign cooperation, enhance the city’s international influence, and promote the high-quality development of foreign trade and foreign investment.

Mr. Vid Habjan,Director at SPIRIT Slovenia, further interpreted Slovenia's investment environment, focusing on introducing the logistics hub advantages of the Port of Koper and the industrial support policies for "green transition", so as to provide clear guidance for Chinese enterprises to invest in Slovenia.

During the event, the sharing sessions by enterprise representatives stood out as highlights:COSCO Shipping Logistics Supply Chain Co., Ltd. proposed an "Efficient China-Slovenia Cross-Border Logistics Connectivity Solution" to address the challenges of trade transportation timeliness;Zhejiang Dadongwu Construction Technology Co., Ltd. demonstrated its achievements in the intelligent and green transformation of the construction industry, providing new ideas for cooperation between the two countries in the infrastructure sector;Slovenia’s Inea d.o.o., Stroka produkt d.o.o., and Tajfun Planina Group respectively promoted technologies in energy optimization, precision manufacturing, and characteristic industries, and released multiple cooperation intentions on-site.Meanwhile, a promotional video of Slovenia played during the event allowed Chinese enterprises to intuitively perceive Slovenia’s cooperation potential from dimensions such as industrial vitality, regional value, and business environment.

Mr. Rok Tomšič, Head of Department for Bilateral Economic Cooperation, Directorate for Economic, Cultural and Science Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, summarized in his closing speech that this matchmaking meeting has built a "pragmatic and precise" communication bridge. The interaction results between Chinese and Slovenian enterprises have far exceeded expectations. He expressed the expectation that both sides will continue to follow up in the future, convert initial consensuses into practical cooperation projects, and rely on Slovenia's advantage as a hub connecting Eastern and Western Europe to jointly explore the European and global markets.

During the China-Slovenia Enterprise B2B Matching Session, nearly 100 enterprises from both sides conducted in-depth discussions focusing on technical cooperation, market expansion, and industrial chain synergy. On-site, more than 10 initial cooperation consensuses were reached, covering key fields such as new energy materials, cross-border logistics, and intelligent manufacturing. Participating enterprises all stated that the event accurately matched their needs, effectively reduced the communication costs of cross-border cooperation, and brought results far beyond expectations.

The successful holding of the "2025 China-Slovenia Enterprise Cooperation and Matching Conference" has laid a solid foundation for China-Slovenia economic and trade cooperation. In the future, taking this event as an opportunity, both sides will continue to promote in-depth cooperation in fields such as new energy vehicles, biomedicine, and digital trade, and work together to create a new situation in China-Slovenia bilateral economic and trade relations.
